The best preventive spring treatment is fourfold; use of
Impact immune stimulating food, use of LymnoZyme, replacement of UV Bulb(s) and
a thorough pond cleaning.
- As the water temperature increases bacteria and
parasites become active before your koi's immune system becomes active
again. Impact food stimulates the koi's
immune system as they emerge from winter dormancy to help them fight off
bacterial infections.
- LymnoZyme is a combination of bacteria that consume
harmful bacteria’s nutrients normally found at any time in the pond.
These nutrients provide an essential food
source for harmful bacteria. The
absence of these nutrients causes the harmful bacteria to die without adversely
affecting the health of the pond ecosystem.
- Pond cleaning means removing all winter debris,
cleaning filters, and a 25% to 50% water change.
Make certain that a decholrinating chemical is used if your water
supply contains chlorine or chloramines.
TEST, TEST, TEST for chlorine, ammonia, nitrites, Ph, and total
alkalinity daily until the pond is stabilized and weekly there after.
- UV radiation prevents algae blooms, by killing algae
spores, and improves the health of a pond by killing bacteria that pass through
the UV sterilizer. UV bulbs have a useful life of one season, and should be replaced every spring.
